Non NHS Chargeable Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

  • Medicals for preemployment, sports and driving requirements (Large Goods Vehicle (LGV), Passenger Service Vehicle (PSV) etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Passport signing
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

Clinics for Chronic Disease Management

(including respiratory and diabetic clinics)

The practice runs a recall system to monitor patients with chronic disease or who are on certain types of medication. When you register with the practice, if you fall into this category you will automatically be sent a letter once a year inviting you for review with either a practice nurse, phlebotomist or doctor.

Please keep this appointment as an annual review is a very good way of ensuring your continuing good health and gives you a chance to discuss any health concerns you may have with the doctor or nurse at the time.

The appointment will vary from 10 minutes to 40 minutes depending on the type of monitoring being done and can include a blood pressure check, weight check, and smoking advice (if applicable). It may also include a blood test and you could be asked to bring a urine sample.

Self Referral to physiotherapy

Freephone 0800 917 9390

NHS Tayside offer a self referral service; we can also book the appointments at the surgery. The first appointment will be a telephone consultation.

Self referral is becoming more widely practised and it’s particularly popular for people with long term conditions who know what treatment they need.

The benefits of self referral include:

  • saving time for both GPs and patients
  • reducing waiting times
  • improving attendance levels at appointments
  • empowering patients to manage their condition

If you feel you may benefit from this service, please contact the freephone number above to discuss your particular requirements.

Mental Health Self Help

Many people will experience symptoms of stress, anxiety or depression at some stage in their lives. Getting the right help can make all the difference.

There are a variety of resources available, different things suit different people.

Some may find “self help” resources useful, but knowing where to start can be tricky. The NHS Tayside Healthy Minds website provides links to a number of useful resources.

Hearing Aids

Do you wear an NHS hearing aid?

A FREE drop in retubing clinic and replacement battery service is available throughout Tayside with drop in clinics being held at locations in Dundee, Angus and Perth and Kinross.

Volunteers trained by the Audiology Department can supply and fit new batteries, and retube non dome or slim tube hearing aids. Unfortunately volunteers are unable to retube open fit aids (thin wire with tip in ear).

Some of the Action of Hearing Loss Volunteers are continuing to support this service.

Please note, the client’s yellow book must be provided to receive batteries.
