Morning Booked Appointments Are Back!!

You asked, we listened, we took action.

Commencing Monday 3rd September 2018

Bookable appointments in the morning are being re-started.

We brought in the morning ‘sit and wait’ service two years ago due to GP retirements in the practice. This system enabled us to continue to provide a service with a reduced number of doctors and still offer as many appointments as you, the patients, felt you wanted. Other surgeries in the local area have been unable to provide their usual service due to lack of GPs.  This system allowed us to continue to offer patients appointments during a time of uncertainty and reduction in GP numbers.

Being in a prime location with a strong focus on patient care, we have been able to attract doctors to the practice and are now in the fortunate position of having a full complement of GPs. We have welcomed three new partners to the practice over recent months. The addition of Dr Robertson, Dr Vesela and Dr Morrison to the practice team along with our Advanced Nurse Practitioner, means we are now able to re-start bookable appointments.

50% of the appointments pre-bookable up to 4 weeks in advance.

50% of the appointments bookable on the day of the appointment only.

This will ensure every patient who has an acute medical problem will be able to be seen on the day, as was possible with the ‘sit and wait’ surgery.

Re-starting bookable appointments will reduce patients’ waiting time considerably and will assist with patient-doctor continuity ensuring the needs of our patients are met. We will closely monitor this change and may make further amendments to the ratio of pre-bookable and on-the-day appointments depending on patient need.

The practice would like to invite all patients to provide us with feedback on how this change affects you individually and in what aspect.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all patients for continued support of our local practice and we look forward to many more years of providing an essential service to the community of Arbroath and the surrounding area.

The practice is now using text messaging to confirm bookings and remind patients about upcoming appointments. Patients will also be able to cancel appointments via text. Please ensure the practice has an up-to-date mobile number to facilitate participation in this service. If you wish to opt out of this service please contact the surgery.
